Very rare large red opaline glass mid-century brutalist pendant light
A striking glass pendant light shade, made from red & opaline glass in the former Czechoslovakia in the 1960s.
The outside layer is blood red and the inside layer is milk white. When illuminated, the shade is a gorgeous shade of deep orange.
The bulb holder is ceramic and bakelite. The ceiling fixture is made from plastic and aluminium, and bears the trademark for Osvetlovaci Sklo Valaske Mezirici. The glassworks were owned by S.Reich & Co., at one point the most important manufacturer of glass light fittings in Austria-Hungary.
All the components are in excellent condition. The wiring is original and would therefore need to be changed to make this item suitable for use in the UK.
