Early 20th cent. BAUHAUS tubular chrome sofa designed by Slezak, Halabala style
A lovely example of this Bauhaus tubular metal chrome sofa, designed by Robert Slezak in the 1930s. This sofa is in excellent structural condition: all original fixings are present, all the joints are firm, and the frame is very sturdy and solid. The steel mesh seat support is still firm, and is securely attached to its frame. The seat cushions seem to be original, and feel as if they are sprung (we can't say for sure as we don't want to damage the fabric!) They are upholstered in mid-brown serge.
The chrome finish on this item shows signs of wear associated with age: it is scuffed and scratched, but there are no significant areas of rust.
